Try using these examples to help refine your search
Search Examples:
Instead of a broad term like "cancer" you should try to
be more specific in your criteria, for instance search for "how
do I ease the pain associated with cancer treatment."
If your search returns too many results it may be because you used
a general term like "kidney" you should focus on a specific
problem such as "how ill renal dialysis affect my overall health."
If your search returns too few results it may be because your search
was too narrow, try broadening your search. For example, instead of
searching for "what are the differing types of atrial fibrillation
affecting men" you may wish to search for "types of atrial
fibrillation."
Search Conventions
Concept Based Queries:
Our search identifies patterns that naturally occur in text, based on the usage and frequency of words or terms that correspond to specific ideas or concepts. This allows you to access information by entering a core phrase that corresponds to the concept you wish to retrieve.
This means that for the best results while searching you should enter a phrase that most reflects the subject you are seeking information about. This phrase should be no shorter than three words and can be as long as you feel necessary to best reflect the idea you are seeking. The more refined your phrase the better your search results will be.
Keyword Based Queries:
Our search is able to perform Keyword searches. These types of searches are not recommended due to their inherent limitations. These limitations include a lack of context, keyword inaccuracies and extensive user participation in authoring and sorting searches.
If you cannot find the information you seek using a concept based search and Keyword search would work best for you the following tips may assist you.
For a Keyword search enter one word in the search box and choose "search". Example: Diabetes.
For a prefix search enter the prefix followed by the wildcard symbol. Example: Tetra* would yield information on Tetracycline, Tetrahydrobiopterin and Tetralogy.
For forms of a word enter a question mark to replace a variable letter. Example: T?p would yield information relating to Tip, Top, Topping.
